Qualcomm Donation Funds Entertainment and Relaxation Room for the Ronald McDonald Family Home

Funding Pays for Therapeutic and Stimulating Room for Patients and Families

WAALRE, The Netherlands — November 16, 2010 — Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), a leading developer of advanced wireless technologies and data solutions, today announced it has donated more than €47,356 ($67,000) to the Ronald McDonald Family Home Zuidoost Brabant in Veldhoven, Netherlands.  Qualcomm’s donation will enable the Ronald McDonald Family Home to build an entertainment and relaxation area in a new “Living Room” facility, which will be part of the new wing of the Maxima Medical Center, one of the Southern Netherlands’ largest regional medical centres specialising in neo-natal intensive care, children’s healthcare and jeopardised pregnancies.

Located next to the Maxima Medical Center, the Ronald McDonald Family Home Zuidoost Brabant was set up to support the families of attending patients, enabling them to benefit from a safe and solid environment in which family life can continue as normally as possible while remaining close to the mother and child.  The “Living Room” facility will act as an extension of the Family Home, creating a safe and non-hospital environment for the families to be themselves, relax and meet others in a similar situation.  Qualcomm’s donation will go towards the entertainment and relaxation area, which will contain equipment such as a Wii Game Console, television, laptop computers with wireless internet connection and stereo, as well as therapeutic furniture, such as a special couch and a water bed, equipment for light-therapy and child-friendly play equipment, since it is proven that this can have a stimulating effect on the healing process.

“Qualcomm firmly believes in the benefits that innovation and connectivity will offer to the families utilizing the Family Home relaxation and entertainment living room,” explained Bill Karnazes, managing director of Qualcomm Enterprise Services Europe. “We’re extremely pleased to be able to support such a valid cause and we look forward to seeing the positive impact the entertainment and relaxation area will have on the Ronald McDonald Family Home guests.”

“The running of the Ronald McDonald Family Home Zuidoost Brabant Foundation is entirely based on donations and gifts,” explained Wendy van den Akker, House manager for the Ronald McDonald Family Home Zuidoost Brabant Foundation.  “Donations like this from Qualcomm are therefore absolutely vital for the support we offer to the families of ill and handicapped children.  With the help of organizations like Qualcomm we hope to continue our work for many years to come.”
