COSTS UNDER CONTROL AND COMPLETE SAFETY ON THE ROAD

Transportes C. Novoa e Hijos is one the oldest refrigerated transport companies in Spain, boasting over 45 years’ experience. Founded by Camilo Nova in 1965 and based in Benavente (Zamora), the company has been run by the family’s second generation since 2001. It currently has over 110 refrigerated vehicles and trucks, fitted with Qualcomm’s latest fleet tracking and management technology, which is built into the cutting edge mobile data management solution, FleetVisor.

For over 10 years, all Transportes C.Novoa vehicles have been equipped with the latest GPS location and GSM communication technologies to maintain constant communication with each driver. This enables the company to know the exact location its vehicles and their routes at any given moment, and also quickly locate its shipments and track its orders.

In recent years Qualcomm’s technology has been added to this. Euteltracs was the first addition and in the last few months new MCP 200 systems were deployed, as well as Qualcomm’s fleet management software, Fleetvisor, which has started to be used to manage parameters such as loads, deadlines, delivery schedules and route tracking.

Systems Manager of Transportes C. Novoa e Hijos, Ángel Fernández, highlights, “The benefits regarding the reduction in working hours, savings in fuel and effectiveness of management tasks have been clear to see and we have been able to dramatically reduce the time and resources that were previously needed to carry out these day-to-day tasks manually. In our business, all of this time translates into money.”

“With FleetVisor,” Ángel Fernández explains, “we can instantly identify the exact situation regarding our entire fleet; its status, routes, schedules, driving times, and all of the transport and load details. This is vital in the refrigerated transport industry and a necessity in order to comply with road safety regulations.”
