‘BIRD’S EYE’ VIEW, THE LATEST INNOVATION IN MANAGEMENT AND TRACKING

GB Grupajes is one of the leading Spanish firms in international freight and groupage transport. Founded in 1960 as a national transport initiative, the Alicante-based company now provides international services across the whole of Europe. The company recently implemented FleetVisor to improve its logistics management, invoicing, administration and driver management processes and will now start to deploy this technology.

Since 2004, GB Grupajes has used GPS positioning systems to reduce risks and unforeseen events on the road and allow fast location of its shipments, as well as traceability of its orders. New online tracking systems have gradually been added to these, as part of a new setup that allows GB Grupajes to offer a tailored Just-in-Time service to its customers, providing daily collections and deliveries, instant location of goods, partial deliveries of orders, a special cargo service, express shipment in Spain and a daily groupage service to and from the whole of Europe.

From now on, FleetVisor will provide a ‘bird’s eye’ view of all of the company’s daily operations and will allow new criteria to be introduced to increase efficiency and reduce transport-related operating costs. In addition, Qualcomm’s FleetVisor technology will allow GB Grupajes to consolidate its systems and manage its entire vehicle network from a single screen, with a database that records and consolidates its daily operations, displaying the information in customised graphs and tables.

The General Director of GB Grupajes, Ignacio Gisbert, asserts, “The main objective of this project is to improve our day-to-day operations and achieve savings on fuel and unnecessary journeys made by our vehicles.”

Qualcomm’s innovative technology provides a real-time overview of key transport metrics, such as fuel consumption, vehicles and driving costs, productivity and operating efficiency. “This combined information offers a ‘bird's eye’ view, with detailed analyses of operations and their performance, which enables areas for improvement and savings to be easily identified. This could yield reductions of up to 15%,” says Javier Cañestro, Senior Regional Sales Manager of Qualcomm Enterprise Services.
