TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR FUEL COSTS WITH OMNIEXPRESS
No less important than increased operational efficiency and flexibility, an improved operating result should also be achieved when a transport company implements a fleet management system. The project undertaken by the Spanish firm Hermanos Laredo in Cantabria is a shining example. It decided to implement Qualcomm's OmniExpress solution to revamp and modernise its fleet management operations for nearly 300 vehicles, including both trucks and trailers.
In the words of Santiago Laredo, founding partner of Hermanos Laredo: “OmniExpress helps us achieve significant reductions in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. In addition to offering key commercial advantages, this can also be seen as reaffirmation of our commitment to the environment.”
Launched earlier this year, the implementation will make it possible for the operator to receive vehicle specific critical data in near real time and to always know the location of their vehicles, cargo status, route, delivery times, etc. In other words, the company will have all the data and information it needs reduce operating costs and maximise customer service.
In short, Hermanos Laredo improves its logistics management processes, reduces its operating costs and – consequently – reduces the environmental impact of its daily operations by achieving reductions in the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of its fleet of vehicles. In addition, management has near-term plans for its integration into the company's global management platform (ERP).
“We're going with Qualcomm technology,” says Laredo, “because it meets all of our reliability and reporting requirements. While we needed a reliable tool for real-time fleet monitoring, we also need to make certain its implementation and subsequent use did not create major headaches in future. OmniExpress ticked both boxes!”
Ambitious integration plans
In the medium term, Hermanos Laredo intends to launch the second major project phase: integration of Qualcomm's solution with the transport company's business management system (ERP), which was developed by LKS.
In fact, Qualcomm has concluded an agreement – which treats the integration project as a basic principle – with the firm LKS to incorporate this developer into its group of partners as part of a new partnership that will result in future projects. By combining the solutions, Hermanos Laredo management will also streamline its internal processes for logistics management, billing, administration and route and driver assignments.
“This initiative is significant, as it offered an opportunity to collaborate with LKS – a specialist in ERP solutions – who from here on out will be a new partner of reference when replicating this type of solution for other clients,” says Javier Cañestro, Senior Regional Sales Manager of Qualcomm Enterprise Services Europe. “The combination has already achieved excellent results, enabling us to offer a complete, safe and effective solution for future projects.”
