“There can be no greater vote of confidence.“

Vos Logistics, based in Oss, recently extended its contract with Qualcomm. Nearly the entire Vos fleet is now equipped with the latest generation of Qualcomm’s EutelTRACS communication system. This step also enables the company to take advantage of the latest innovations. The contract with Vos Logistics ran through July 2011, but has now already been extended to July 2013. ‘There can be no greater vote of confidence in Qualcomm,’ says Managing Director Stijn Vos.

ABILITY TO BETTER SERVE THE CLIENT

Vos Logistics began using the first generation EutelTRACS systems in the early 1990s. This satellite-based data communication system enables transport companies to optimise their freight and route planning and provide clients with real-time tracking and tracing services throughout Europe. Data is exchanged constantly between trucks and their home base, each providing the latest information. Information about the vehicle, cargo and driver are available online and can be directly integrated into the transporter’s operations and planning systems. This contributes to efficient deployment of personnel, effective management and maintenance of the vehicle fleet, fuel and cost savings and the ability to better serve the client.

Vos Logistics has integrated EutelTRACS into its own LOVOS information system and, with the contract extension, has also expanded its use of the latest functionalities. These include QFXMpander, an intelligent black box that enables exchange of an even wider array of information with drivers and the fleet, and HourTRACS, the system for digital management of driving, rest and work times that further improves efficiency in areas such as planning and salary administration. Via EutelTRACS, Vos employs the Drivercard Download from Qualcomm. This system makes use of secure wireless technology to archive every driver’s digital tacho card data in the back office, obviating the need for drivers to visit their home base.

MUTUAL COMMITMENT

‘EutelTRACS optimises communication between our vehicles and the home base,’ explains Stijn Vos. ‘That is essential. Our clients expect us to provide optimal access to tracking and tracing information. Our success is not only the result of the qualities of the system, but also of the added value that Qualcomm provides. Stijn Vos describes the relationship between his company and Qualcomm as one of mutual commitment. ‘They work with us to develop new ideas and innovate, and for our part we have some influence on their product development. This kind of relationship provides such great confidence that the contract extension we have agreed to should really be no surprise at all.’
